Content licensing statement

Last updated

NixaTV Live distributes only content it holds distribution rights for in the United States. This page explains what that means in practice — including the limitations it creates.

What we license

We hold distribution agreements covering the live channels and on-demand catalog available on our plans, for delivery to viewers in the United States. Those agreements are negotiated directly or through authorised content aggregators, and they are what you are actually paying for when you subscribe.

Licensing is also why our pricing sits where it does. Per-subscriber content costs are the single largest line item in a service like this, and they are the reason a full US lineup cannot be delivered sustainably at $8 per month.

What licensing means for you

Practically, it means continuity. A licensed service is not subject to sudden takedown, its domain does not need to change, and its payment processing does not disappear. That is the difference between a subscription and a gamble.

It also means you do not need a VPN. A licensed service has no reason to care whether your ISP can see the traffic, so any provider telling you a VPN is required has told you something important about its own licensing.

The limitations licensing creates

Local broadcast affiliates — ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX stations — are licensed market by market, which makes them the hardest and most expensive rights to secure. Coverage therefore varies by ZIP code. Verify the specific locals you need during the 7-day guarantee window.

Regional sports blackouts apply, because blackout terms are written into the rights agreements themselves. A licensed provider must honor them. This is a genuine feature difference in the unlicensed direction, and we would rather state it plainly than have you discover it during a game.

Rights holder enquiries

Rights holders with questions about our licensing of specific content should contact support@nixatv.live. Formal infringement notices should follow the process in our DMCA policy.
